What is the Youth Group? The MHIA Youth Group is a team of young Muslims in the Hudson Valley who get together to learn new things, serve the community, and have fun! We meet weekly on Sundays from 10AM to 1:30PM at Masjid Al-Noor where we have class and discuss plans for fundraisers, drives, volunteer work, and ways to give back to our community.
Current Projects Food Drive: We are collecting all types of non-perishable foods for our food bank to support local families in need. Hearts for Syrian Refugees: We are collecting money to support Syrian refugees; donors will be recognized with a heart bearing their name on the wall. Kids with Cancer: We are fundraising to support children diagnosed with cancer. Teens for Jeans: From January 22 to February 26, we are collecting gently worn jeans to donate to local children in homeless shelters. ICNA Convention Trip: We are raising money and selling candy to help fund our trip to the annual ICNA Convention in Baltimore.
Updates 1. Twenty two boxes of clothing and blankets donated by the community were sent to refugees in Iraq via Embrace Relief. 2. Dozens of toys were donated to the Children’s Home in Poughkeepsie, Grace Smith House for survivors of domestic violence, and United Way of Dutchess County, a social services organization.
